Hey there! I’m glad you came to check out my website and take a look at my work!
I am a college student studying animation and 3D modeling. I first started working with effects when I was about 12 years old, and my uncle showed me some really old VFX overlay apps that could be downloaded on my mobile device. Compared to snapchat filters and other similar VFX apps today these overlays seem silly, but to a 12 year old me they were one of my favorite things to use. I would constantly make videos with low budget gunshot sound effects and badly cropped greenscreen planes crashing onto my friends.
As I got older I started to get into more serious applications like Wondershare Filmora and Photoshop. I began using programs like this to make videos for my Youtube channel, as that became my passion over the next couple years. My first experience with 3D software came from a desire to create a custom intro for my Youtube channel, and several online tutorials pointed me toward blender. I was cautious at first when using modeling software as the interfaces were very daunting to someone with no experience creating models or animation. As I followed step by step Youtube tutorials, I began to realize that it was much more fun to go and adjust the work myself after getting a basic shape. I started to make small models of things around my house, such as my chair and my desk and so on.
I was also getting really into video games during this time, playing things primarily on my Xbox 360. I really got into looking for the finer details in the visuals, and I was always more intrigued by the cinematic animations than the actual games themselves. The more I played the more I realized that these images were an art form. I had no idea that someone could have a job making games, or even crazier just making the visuals for a game.
My experiences all came together when it was time to start college and decide on a major. I had so many ideas inspired by all the games I’d played and the movies I’d watched. I wanted to express these ideas as any artist does, but I didn’t have a medium to do so. Photoshop and video editing weren’t complex enough to create the worlds I was envisioning. My outlet would turn to the world of digital 3D art when I decided to major in Art and Technology. From the first semester I took introductory 3D modeling I was in love, and I became obsessed with using Maya, Substance Painter, Zbrush, and other software that my school would let me get my hands on.
Now that I’ve gotten practice with 3D modeling and animation I can confidently say that I am enjoying myself. My classes have taken me through the entirety of the pipeline from making rough models all the way to compositing and post processing. There are so many possibilities that the world of digital 3D art gives to creators and so much room to grow. With new assistive technologies becoming available every year such as motion capture and photogrammetry, there are endless possibilities for things that can be created. This is why I love animation and modeling, and want to continue with this art into a career path.
My current body of work consists largely of pieces inspired by popular media, which is what allowed me to explore and practice the complex interfaces of Maya. I have begun to move into more personalized work over the past year with my newest animation featuring one of my original characters and his custom revolver. I hope to be able to use my skills to continue developing the worlds that I have been creating in my mind for years, as well as working on furthering existing content.
My main inspirations stem from modern animated shows, movies, and games. A few examples include the animated Netflix adaptation of Beastars, the series Arcane based off of League of Legends, and the movie Ready Player One. All of these shows share a similar focus on 3D animation and highly stylized artwork. I want this to be the direction that my own work is heading, and to someday create a story of my own.
Below is my current resume that gives a quick overview of my work and experiences for any potential employers or people looking to commission work from me. Thank you again for taking the time to look over my work, and I hope that I could inspire you like others have inspired me.
